Although the main Powerball prize in the February 6 drawing was sold out in Washington state, Texas residents didn’t fare so badly as two people bought tickets with the million-dollar prize.
The winning numbers in the said draw were 5, 11, 22, 23, 69, Powerball 7 and Power Play 2.
First, a lucky player won $1 million by matching all five numbers but not the Powerball. While someone else takes home $2 million after guessing the same numbers and playing the Power Play. This ticket was sold exclusively at the HEB store on Bellaire Boulevard in Houston.
It is not yet known where the second millionaire’s prize was sold.
In addition, 5 people who guess four out of five numbers won $50,000 as well as the Powerball. while matching the powerplay with the same number takes home $100,000. The current Powerball jackpot is now $20 million.
Powerball is played in 45 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. It costs $2 to play, but it’s $3 if you choose to add the power play.
How is Powerball played?
Players win the jackpot by matching five numbers from a total of 69 options. They must also guess an additional number, the Powerball, which they must choose between 1 and 26.
By choosing Power Play for $1 more per spin, players can multiply their non-jackpot winnings by two, three, four, five or 10 times.
The prize for a Power Play Match Five (5+0) is set at $2,000,000, regardless of the number of Power Plays selected.
