The Indian automobile industry has become a huge exporter to a whole bunch of foreign countries including South Africa.
Here is a list of all Indian cars that are sold in South Africa. Indian carmakers, along with foreign car companies manufacturing in India, export some models to Africa, the Middle East and South-East Asia. We have gathered a list of the 10 most popular Indian cars currently for sale in South Africa.

Indian Cars Sold in South Africa
The Toyota Starlet is nothing but the Indian version of the Glanza, which is, in turn, a badge-engineered version of the Maruti Baleno. However, in SA, the hatchback comes with a 1.4-litre petrol engine that outputs 92 hp and 130 Nm of peak power and torque. It is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

While Renault has already used the India-made Duster, Triber and Kwid, the French carmaker’s latest sub-compact SUV is also manufactured in India and exported to South Africa. It comes with the same 1.0-litre naturally aspirated unit that makes 71 hp and 96 Nm and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol unit that makes 99 hp and 160 Nm in India. There are options to choose between a 5-speed manual, AMT or CVT gearbox.

The Renault Kiger’s sibling, the Nissan Magnite, also follows the same path. It is manufactured in India and exported to South Africa. Specifications and powertrain remain the same as the Kiger.

The Tata Bolt which used to be for sale in India is currently the only passenger vehicle sold in South Africa. It comes with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine that outputs 88 hp and 140 Nm of peak power and torque.

Made in India Mahindra XUV300 is sold in South Africa with similar specifications. It is powered by a 1.2-litre 110 hp / 200 Nm turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre 115 hp / 300 Nm diesel engine. There are 6-speed manual or AMT gearboxes to choose from.

While the XUV500 may have been discontinued in India, it continues to be sold in South Africa. It comes with a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that produces 140 hp. The SUV comes with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Mahindra KUV100 NXT
The compact SUV comes with the option to choose between a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine that churns out 82 hp and 115 Nm or a 1.2-litre diesel mill that develops 77 hp and 190 Nm of peak power and torque. Both these engines come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Mahindra Scorpio S11
The iconic SUV in India is one of the popular SUVs in South Africa as well. It comes with a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that produces 120 hp and 280 Nm of peak power and torque and comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. There are options to choose from 4×2 or 4×4 variants.

The Bolero is available with either a single cabin or a double cabin option. The single cabin comes only in 4×2 configuration, while the double cabin variant can be had with 4×2 or 4×4 configuration. It is powered by a 2.5-litre diesel engine that produces 103 hp and 238 Nm of peak power and torque and comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

There are 17 variations of Scorpio-based pickups to choose from. It is used for towing and off-roading and comes with 4×2 and 4×4 options. All these pickup trucks come with a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that produces 138 hp and 320 Nm of peak power and torque. Transmission duties are performed by a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox.
