12 people burned in a crash between an interprovincial bus from the county of Cavassa and a motorcycle taxi, at kilometer 380 of the Pan-American highway north, in the province of Casma (ancash) in the early hours of Sunday.
Hey Public service confirmed the death of eight adults, including a motorcycle taxi driver and four minors. The tragedy happened around 4:00 am on Sunday. After the collision, both vehicles caught fire causing panic among the passengers. Witnesses reported that several people escaped through windows, while others could not get out.
Despite the efforts of the police, firefighters and night watchmen who arrived at the scene, they could not rescue the passengers engulfed in flames. The driver of the motorcycle taxi was burned to death, left in twisted shackles. The bodies were taken to the Casma morgue.
Prosecutor Juan Zevallos Rodríguez, the First Corporate Criminal Prosecutor of Casma and Public Ministry Manager, stated that the death of the victims was confirmed. However, the inspection of the bus was carried out at the second level; they found the dead bodies. It is not excluded that the figure may arise, he said.
The dead have not yet been identified. Experts from Criminalistics and Forensic Medicine are working on the task of identifying the burnt bodies.
There are others seven passengers who are injured. They were transferred to the Casma Support Hospital and the Eleazaro Guzmán Regional Hospital in Nuevo Chimbote.
“We were sleeping and we heard a very loud noise, and I understood the fire to the touch. We were all desperate and broke the windows to get out. Not everyone could get out,” one of the passengers told Walac Noticias.
For his part, the remains were destined for another transport destination in Lima, which he sent in the same Cavassa company.
An interprovincial bus, with license plate F1W-962, would request a pure a Files. The accident against the smaller vehicles was at the height of the La Balanza sector, at the southern entrance of Casma. The circumstances of the crash between the bus and the motorcycle taxi have not yet been clarified.

The interprovincial transport company of Cavassa, where 12 people were burned to death, was sanctioned twice for complaints from its consumers in 2016 and 2017. They did not confirm anything about the incident on social networks.
