Media in the United States have reported the story of a 13-year-old boy who became a hero, as he saved his sister from being kidnapped, from her home, using only his sling (spring bag).
As CNN detailed, the protagonist of the story is Owen Burns, who was playing with his eight-year-old sister in the front yard of their home in Alpena, Michigan.
However, the calmness vanished within seconds when a car was parked near the place and a man emerged, who later caught hold of the minor and wanted to take him away.
This prompted an instant reaction from the boy, who took his slingshot and shot the antisocial twice. The first one among them was accompanied by a Kanita (polka), while the last one was accompanied by a stone.
The shots were accurate to the subject’s head, which was stunned for a few seconds. Due to this the girl narrowly escaped and ran away from home.
The kidnapper, on the other hand, was arrested by the police hours later, confirming that he would be prosecuted for attempted kidnapping and assault on a minor.
Later, in a conversation with the US program Good Morning America, the boy indicated that he was lucky when it came to targeting the kidnapper.
“I grabbed my slingshot, grabbed a marble and a stone, then shot the subject twice in the head and chest,” he said.
For her part, Margaret Burns, a mother of two, indicated in the same program that her children panicked minutes after the incident.
“They were panicking and screaming and she was crying and the only word I could get out of the whole conversation was kidnap,” he said.
