According to the Chilean military, a coordination conference was held in the country in the second week of May this year in preparation for the new version of Estrella Australasia.
The exercise is designed to enhance multinational and regional cooperation, build mutual confidence and enhance the training, preparedness, interoperability and capability of the participating Special Operations Forces.
Interoperability and mutual trust
Southern Star is an operational-level multinational personnel exercise conducted jointly between the Special Forces of Chile and the United States since 2007 under a bilateral agreement.
This type of exercise is an excellent opportunity to increase the operational level of personnel of the armed forces of Chile and other countries, as well as allowing better equipment to support the community in case of emergencies and disasters caused by nature .
The last edition of Estrella Australasia was held from August 16 to 26, 2022 and saw the participation of more than 1,300 soldiers belonging to the Special Forces units of the Chilean Armed Forces, MCOE of Spain and SoSouth of the United States.
Direct actions in practice were considered; special identification; Tactical combat jumps along the static line, military free and high altitude and low opening (HA-LO), helicopter insertion, boarding and recovery of a ship captured by enemies, among other operations.
