The Sports Association of Functional Training and Strength (ADEFF) announced the classification of 18 Ticos athletes in the master and junior categories for the Functional Fitness World Cup that will take place next September 30 to October 3 in Vancouver, Canada.
The Functional Fitness World Cup is a competition where the physical skills and abilities of athletes are tested through six tests: cardiovascular endurance, strength, body weight, skill, power and compound (above).
“At the Association we are very proud of the classification; because, it is the result of hard training, determination and dedication on the part of the athletes, which shows their commitment to the game and their desire to get the name of Costa Rica at the highest level on the world stage,” confirmed Esteban Castro. , president of the Association.
The 2023 Functional Fitness World Cup will bring together the best teams and athletes in the world (more than 170 athletes from 22 countries), providing a unique opportunity to measure themselves against the most famous competitors in the world of functional fitness.
ADEFF’s purpose is to promote the sport of Functional Fitness in Costa Rica, as well as solicit support from Icoder and private companies, allowing them to collaborate in sponsoring these Costa Rican athletes.
“There is a lot of talent in the sport in Costa Rica, however, we are looking for support from institutions and private companies to make the dream of these athletes come true. Currently, the activities are carried out to cover financial expenses (food, transportation, tickets, lodging)” explained Castro.
The first edition of this World Cup was in 2017. For 2022, Costa Rica was represented at the Worlds Mexico in Hermosillo, Sonora Mexico winning 3 medals for the country: gold in Junior Women, silver in Junior Men and bronze in the Senior Category in teams.
