Classes begin today at the Universidad Nacional del Sur (UNS), 67 years after its creation and admitting 5,533 new students, 7% less than those registered last year, who add to the almost 25,000 who are already studying courses in it. house or cottage
Again, as has been said in recent years, medicine was the most chosen course, with a total of 760 registered, of which only 64 will enter, since it is a course with a certain quota.
The second most popular course is Law, with 488 registered, maintaining its presence among the top three positions in the last five years, with a peak of 658 in 2020.
In third place is another proposal from the Department of Health Sciences, which is the Nursing Degree, to which 361 students have added.
The fourth place corresponds to Architecture, one of the most recent projects of the UNS, which since its creation, in 2016, maintains an average of over 300 marks. This year an additional 350 were registered.
Finally, closing the top five, Information Systems Engineering appears with 322 students.
Engineering in general, foundational courses of UNS, maintain an interesting number of entrants, leading Industrial Engineering (with 159), Agronomy (153), Chemistry (104), Computing (104) and Civil and Mechanics, both with 77.
Without a degree course, technical degrees, lasting for three years and offering a strategic opportunity, have been consolidated within the university structure. A great example of this is the University of Technology in the therapeutic company, which reached 528 enrollments this year.
The interest raised by the technical university degree in industrial operations is also significant, with 135 students, Parks and Gardens, with 40, and intelligent industrial electronic systems, with 36.
with the scent of a woman
By color, 59% of 2023 entrants are women, a percentage that has been for years. Although this relationship is verified in almost all races, some presence of women is clearly higher.
In Biochemistry, 83% are women, in medicine their presence is 75%, 78% in Nursing, and 83% in medical technical support.
The percentage drops in courses such as Information Systems Engineering (21%), Mechanical Engineering (15%) and Industrial Technical Operations (17%).
Medicine, a phenomenon
The Department of Health Sciences focuses on the highest percentage of registrations over the years. Its three courses – Nursing, Medicine and Combined Therapeutic Technique – have enrolled 1,449 this year, 26% of the total.
It should be added that this year begins the dictation of the Bachelor of Obstetrics, in which 878 people are enrolled for the year 2022, an amazing number. However, like Medicine, Obstetrics has conditions that drastically reduce the number of students who can eventually study for a degree.
Dr. Pablo Badr, Dean of the Department, explained La Nueva. that, although midwifery does not have a quota, it has an undoubtedly demanding process of equalization.
“This year, three hundred people have passed it in part – which will only be able to take some of the subjects of the plan – and 87 in total.”
Another important point is that, eliminated this year, you only need one year of the course to enroll in Medicine.
“This is no longer done in the previous year. Now it is the Course of University Affiliation (TAU), which this year by 560 students is trying to access the number of 62 students. This limitation has to do with the way in which the degree is increased, which requires about 3,000 hours of training in hospitals local (the average for degrees is 800) and this is the number of students who can draw health issues”.
Badr mentioned that strategies are being developed to expand this quota, but the possibility of local conditions where the practice can be developed.
Since it is no longer required to pass the course in the previous year, the true desire of the students at the time of enrollment, for example, the degree of Bachelor in Nursing, one of the released courses to meet this requirement. He was sincere.
“When admission to another life is no longer relevant, students are their own nurses. Nursing is a career with an average of 90 titles per year. The percentage of these graduates corresponds to professional nurses who complete two years to obtain a bachelor’s degree. Finally, technicians in Therapeutics are accompanied by enrollment and graduates in the institutional history of UNS. As of the beginning of 2019, 280 students have already graduated.
