A winter storm of rare intensity swept across the United States on December 23, 2022, causing road and airport closures across much of the country on Christmas Eve.
The storm, baptized as Elliott, has killed dozens as of December 28, and states such as New York, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Georgia and North Carolina have declared states of emergency.
A reverse search on Google and TinEye engines found that the oldest record of photographing a snow-covered Manhattan is from 2021.
FlyNYON Travel Company posted the same picture on its Instagram profile on February 1, 2021. In its account, the company, which defines itself as “the best helicopter experience without doors,” shares aerial views of different parts of New York.
Subsequent posts, such as one from the Puerto Rico Meteorological Center’s Facebook account dated March 3, 2021, shared the photo attributing it to FlyNYON.
