it’s a Wrap! Like any good tradition to welcome the coming year with the best of energy, there is no better ritual than remembering the best moments we lived in the year 2022, and obviously fashion had its share too. The industry finally returned to its natural state with the Fashion Week calendar, shows, collabs and trends dating back to pre-pandemic times. From the Y2K return to the Koperni show with Bella Hadid, which were your favourites?
Fashion never stops giving us something to talk about, but there were undoubtedly moments that will make us remember this year as one of the best in history. 2022 has come to a close and has left us with a great collection of memories that will go straight into the book, but we can’t wait to see what 2023 has in store for us now. But when it comes down to it, we leave you with a selection of our favorite moments that flooded our feeds, and probably yours too. Let the official countdown begin:
A Brief Description of the Best Fashion Moments in 2022
a very dolce and gabbana wedding
Portofino? Yes, please. If there’s any event that deserves to be on this list, it’s Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker’s Italian wedding, our rockstar girlfriend can’t fail to be the most iconic thing ever, and as good business women as they are, they should Monetize the most important day of the year.
Dolce & Gabbana was the official dress-code for all guests, while Domenico and Stefano were in charge of sponsoring a very Italian-style weekend. Inspired by ’60s lingerie, Kay’s gown was adorned with a hand-embroidered veil with the phrase “Honor and Family Loyalty” inspired by one of Travis’ tattoos. Who said family and business don’t go together, because he didn’t know the clan.
Oops, Balenciaga did it… again
If there was one brand that experienced a real upswing, it was Balenciaga. It is rightly said that life has its ups and downs but this luxurious house lived them to the fullest. The king of controversy has once again been crowned the most viral brand, but not for good reasons.
Show after show, Demna was in charge of starting all kinds of debates that led us to question the true value of fashion. While many of her pieces have been criticized (do we really need a fancy garbage bag or $20,000 shredded sneakers?), we can’t deny that she gave us some of the most sought-after collabs.
But that all changed after their latest campaign, which featured kids posing next to BDSM elements and some shady elements in their adidas x Balenciaga campaign. In case you didn’t know what happened, you can read all about it here.
Bella Hadid and the magic of Koperni
Bella Hadid’s dress was definitely a trending topic across networks this year. Coperni managed to win the unofficial award for best fashion show of the season after a simultaneous performance on the models for the grand finale. A spray fiber technique was used that hardened upon contact with the body and brought life to the perfectly crafted costume.
The show was also a throwback to Alexander McQueen’s 13th show, where pieces were being painted live, via action painting. We can’t wait to see what other developments come with this technology, but we’re sure it’s going to be a resounding success.
The King of Promises left us in August, but the parade of his most recent collections was in charge of keeping his memory alive for eternity. For his final presentation (and tribute) he returned to Paris with a show that reflected all of Mr. Miyake’s creative spirit.
The design of the pieces changed with the movement of the dancers during a dreamy dance, leaving guests crying with joy as the ethereal melody played from a piano. As was customary, its folds in neutral pieces went as far as paying homage to the designer’s legendary technique, which marked nearly a century of fashion. One of the best fashion moments of 2022 that gave us goosebumps.
nike x jacquimus
Hot collab alert! The brand that’s grown like foam was in charge of giving us one of the most requested collabs of the year, and we dream of getting our hands on a piece of it. The collection was unveiled in a salt mine in France and sold out within minutes of its release.
The minimalist aesthetic matched perfectly with Nike’s sports technology gives us the prettiest and subtly sexy gym looks we’ve ever seen. Apparently, the sneakers couldn’t be missing, from some of our vibes vintage Inspired by Nike ads from the nineties.
We can call 2022 the year of comebacks, but our favorite was undoubtedly the return of Y2K.
Nostalgia took over the streets with butterfly tops, washed denim, hip pants, mini skirts everywhere and sex and the City, Can we ask for more?
A few years ago we might have felt a bit of a cringe for some of these pieces, with many of us even vowing never to use them again, but brands like Blumarine, Diesel and Renaissance of Heaven by Marc Jacobs have It has given us back the hope that got us so hyped in the 2000s. Of course, in a much more modern and updated version that even Paris Hilton and Britney Spears love.
