Opening weekend in college football has always been one of the most enjoyable sports weekends of the year. The start of the 2022 campaign will be no different, with a lot of the big-time competitions we’ve been dreaming about since early January when the season officially ended.
Brad Crawford of 247Sports is already looking forward to the first weekend in September, which includes interesting contests like Oregon vs. Georgia, Georgia Tech at Clemson, Cincinnati in Arkansas, Florida State vs. LSU, and of course, Notre Dame at Ohio State . The author is already predicting the results, before the end of spring football, the start of fall camp, and possible changes on the depth chart.
As for the much-anticipated competition, which pits Marcus Freeman against his alma mater, Crawford doesn’t think it will bode well for the new Notre Dame head coach’s start to the regular season. The Irish in the initial prediction is on the road, 38-24, falling for the Buckeyes.
Crawford sees “college football playoff implications” with this competition and has no disagreements here. Both teams have title aspirations, and whoever wins the opening season of the season will have a big feather in their cap. Hopefully Crawford is wrong, but for nearly four months until these two teams go head-to-head at Ohio Stadium, a lot could change, including his assessment of the outcome.
