29-year-old killed in shooting at townhouse in west end of Toronto

Toronto police say a 29-year-old man has died after being shot multiple times at a townhouse complex north of the Stockyard district in the west end of the city.

Officers were called to an address on Humber Boulevard near Alliance Avenue around 7:45 p.m. Sunday, which reported that a man had been shot.

Police said the victim was later housed in a townhouse unit with gunshot wounds. First responders tried to revive him, but he was eventually pronounced dead at the scene.

Duty Inspector Mike Williams told CP24 that police are currently looking for at least two suspects.

“What I can tell you from what our officers have found so far is that two men clearly dressed in dark clothes and wearing ski masks, entered a townhouse here and that’s when there was a brawl and this young man died. ,” Williams told CP24 at the scene.

He said the suspects fled the area on foot and it appeared to have been shot dead.

“It looks like these two people had a very deliberate course of action that they wanted to follow,” Williams said.

He said police do not consider any concerns for public safety at this time and there is a “very, very strong police presence” in the neighborhood as police investigate and try to reassure the community.

The victim has not been identified yet.

Murder detectives are looking to speak to anyone who may have information about the suspect or the shooting.

“What we’re looking for is if anyone has any information on where they came from before it happened and where they went after,” Williams said. “If there is a vehicle involved or if they walk on foot? We’re looking for someone in the community who can help us piece this together and find out what really happened tonight. ,

Williams called it “very worrying” that Toronto police have been called for three gun-related murders in the past four nights.

“It’s very worrying for us as the police, the city in general and all these communities,” he said. “Then, we understand that this has an impact on everyone living in the community and we are doing our best. I know there are neighborhood officials in this neighborhood who work here and I am sure That they will work over the next few days to work with the community and put together what happened.

Police are asking anyone, especially anyone with surveillance footage, to reach out to investigators or call crime stoppers anonymously.
