2nd edition of Women’s Football Parity Cup begins

This Saturday, May 13, begins the second edition of the women’s football tournament promoted by the Ministry of Women and Gender Policies and Sexual Diversity of the Province of Buenos Aires. This year it will be in Moreno. Admission is free and open to the entire community.

The tournament will see the participation of women’s soccer teams from San Fernando, Ituzingo, Escobar, Suipacha, Marcos Paz, San Martín, Mercedes and the General Rodríguez team, which was the provincial champion of Equity Cup 2022.

The tournament will be played across the eight regions that make up the Ministry of Women and Gender Policies and Sexual Diversity. There will be participation of more than 80 teams of the Municipal Corporation, that is, 2000 players will pass through the field.

The winning teams will play on the third date, the weekend of June 10. There they will play the semi-finals and the final of the First Region.

On this first date, the Rodrigues women’s team won the first match against Mercedes 5–0 and then managed to win 2–0 against Marcos Paz City, thus reaching the next instance of the semi-finals.

The Equality Cup was created to make women’s sport visible and create an action agenda with its heroes that allows us to move towards equality in a masculine sphere.

During these days, although the premise of the tournament is to showcase feminine power in the sport, it also seeks space for dialogue with the players, and promotes training on gender and sport within the framework of the Buenos Aires Micaela Law.

The event was promoted by the Ministry of Women and Gender Policies and Sexual Diversity of the Province of Buenos Aires together with the Undersecretary of Sports of the Province of Buenos Aires and the Ministry of Development of the Buenos Aires Community. Furthermore, the Mayor of Moreno, Mariel Fernández; The Undersecretary of Transversal Gender Policies, Lydia Fernández, the Director of the First Region, Emilé Portela, and the Mayor, Mauro García.

Mauro García celebrated the start of the tournament through a post on his social networks, where he showed photos of the team with the shirt and of the municipality.
