The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has decided to give ration free to all ration card holders for a period of 3 months to provide immediate relief to the poor and needy due to the circumstances arising out of Kovid-19. In Uttar Pradesh on Thursday (May 20, 2021), 3 months free ration will be distributed to 3.30 crore eligible card holders under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. The Yogi government has decided that the eligible persons whose ration cards have not been made. Ration cards will also be made by campaigning them and ration will be made available to them immediately.
Each card holder will be given 3 kg of wheat along with 2 kg of rice. The Yogi government, which is providing food to thousands of poor people daily through community kitchens and food packets, has made chalk preparations for the country’s largest ration distribution campaign. The Yogi government has instructed its ministers, MLAs and officers to remain posted in the districts to oversee the free ration distribution campaign. State government ministers and MLAs will be present in different districts and will start the ration distribution campaign.
Ration will be given on the basis of portability
Nodal officers have been deployed at government shops to monitor ration distribution. Ration distribution will be done through e-pass machines to make the entire process transparent and corruption-free. 13,41,77,983 people of the eligible household scheme along with 1,30,07,969 eligible persons of Antyodaya Anna Yojana will also get the benefit of free ration distribution scheme. Apart from UP card holders, any eligible card holder will be able to get free ration from the government ration shops of the state on the basis of portability. The ration distribution for the month of May will start from Thursday till 31 May. From 29 to 31 May, ration distribution will be done to eligible people on the basis of portability.
Food grains available at 80 thousand government ration shops
The Yogi government, already providing food to the poor through community kitchens and food packets, has now prepared extensively for the free ration distribution campaign. Instructions have also been issued to make food grains available to about 80 thousand government ration shops in the state. Token system with social distancing is being implemented in food distribution, to prevent congestion. The state government has made the availability of sanitary, soap and water mandatory at every ration shop. Sanitization will be necessary before the use of e pass machines. Only a maximum of 5 consumers can be present in a shop at a time.
The Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh has sent the new information to the concerned officials of all the districts. In compliance with the decision, ration of 3 months (June, July and August, 2021) is to be given free of cost to all ration card holders. The said expenditure is not admissible under the SDRF Guidelines issued by the Government of India.
Additional budget has already been allocated by the Finance Department to the Food and Logistics Department in this regard. In such a situation, the distribution of free food grains to all ration card holders will be done from the departmental budget allocated to the Food and Logistics Department. Detailed guidelines regarding the process of distribution will be issued separately by the Food and Logistics Department in the financial year 2021-22.
Significantly, even during the first wave of Corona, the Yogi government distributed free ration to eligible card holders for 8 months. At the rate of 5 kg of food grains per unit, the state government collected 60 lakh m from government shops from April to November last year. Tons of food grains were distributed free of cost, which is a record in the country.
Yogi government will bear full expenses of children orphaned from Corona
At the same time, the Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh is going to bring a new policy for the children who have been orphaned and destitute due to the corona virus infection epidemic. The state government on Wednesday (May 19, 2021) Decided. The Uttar Pradesh government believes that such children who have been orphaned and destitute are the property of the state.
Under the government scheme, all the responsibility including maintenance of children whose parents have died due to corona virus will be provided by the state government. The state government will soon take care of the children under this scheme.
The Women and Child Development Department has been instructed to prepare a detailed action plan in this regard immediately. As soon as the Women and Child Development Department action plan will be prepared, the work of implementing it will be started.
