Several states in the US plan to provide direct financial support to their citizens in September with the aim of helping them with their economic needs.
Below we name three states that will implement this measure:
1. Washington State
Families and individuals who meet the requirements can receive tax credits of up to $1,200 from this state.
The deadline to claim this tax credit is December 31st. You will be asked for your Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), a copy of your federal tax return, and other personal information.
2. Minnesota
The state has been giving a tax refund since mid-August, and some people may still be eligible.
The refund they can receive is up to $1,300.
Married couples filing jointly and whose income is $150,000 or less could receive up to $520.
People who file taxes individually and have annual income of $75,000 or less could receive up to $260.
You will also receive $260 for each dependent, up to a maximum of three.
3. New Mexico
New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham implemented tax refunds for local residents and provided stimulus payments for those who do not have to file tax returns.
Married couples filing jointly are eligible for a $1,000 tax refund.
Individuals who file separate tax returns, whether single or married, are also eligible for a $500 refund..
Eligible New Mexico residents who have filed their 2021 income tax returns will automatically receive refunds.
The deadline for filing tax returns is May 31, 2024.
