Walmart recently announced career paths that stand out at the company, as they help Walmart and Sam’s Club move into the future of retail commerce, which positions favorable to immediate and future plans.

“As more employers face the future of work and how technology is changing jobs, our people are preparing us to win the next generation of retail,” the company said in a statement. “When Walmart and Sam’s Club were created new ways to serve clients and members, we create new career paths for our partners.”

Walmart says it is investing in 2.1 million associates worldwide to create new jobs, training and pathways that connect them to in-demand careers that change their paths in critical areas of growing business.

These trajectories show where Walmart is headed as one of the nation’s largest employers, and they are:

1. Store/club operations

75% of first-line managers in the US started out as part-time associates. Last year, Walmart has promoted more than 180,000 US associates to more responsible, higher-paying positions.

2. New jobs driven by technology
