Ollie Sainthouse, 5, has become a hero in Britain after completing a challenge to walk 200 miles with his father to raise thousands of pounds for charity. Currently, the child is considered the youngest person to complete the famous long distance walk in the United Kingdom, which goes from coast to coast.
According to Paul Sainthouse, Ollie’s father, the boy loves challenges and walks and they have hiked across the territory many times: “He has completed 44 of the 114 Wainwright peaks in the Lake District. He’s a real numbers kid and he wants to know what he’s got and how high the peaks are,” he told local media Mirror.
At first, Paul confessed, the journey, which began in the city of Cumbria and ended in North Yorkshire after 16 days, was intended to share a pleasant space between father and son, but in the middle of the road decided them to direct their actions to increase. funds for the Great Northern Air Ambulance Service, which runs solely on donations.
The hiker said that he did not consider that option before because he did not want to put pressure on his son who due to his youth was not sure that he would be able to complete the entire route.
“But we continued to improve and in the middle there I realized that I could do it. So I contacted my wife Rachel and we decided to start collecting money,” Paul added to the aforementioned media.
The initial goal was to collect at least 500 pounds sterling, but he exceeded his expectations after collecting almost 9,000, more than 45 million pesos, for the organization, where he is now called a hero.
The decision to choose the Ambulance Service as a beneficiary came from Ollie when he and his father witnessed an air rescue while on holiday around Helvellyn in the Lake District, the third highest mountain in England. A rescue that leaves them marked to the point of thinking only of them when choosing.
