NEW YORK — A 79-year-old man ended up in hospital intensive care with a brain hemorrhage after he was violently beaten by two suspected robbers during a $100,000 robbery at the victim’s jewelry store in Brooklyn.
Sean Cohen Reveals His Father Was Trying to Shut Down the Jewelry Store in Manny Prospect Lefferts Gardens Friday evening around 5:00 p.m. when two suspects broke in and beat the man to death, killing him.
“We just pray and put our faith in God and the nurses and doctors here,” Cohen said from his father’s hospital on Sunday.
Her father’s screams could be heard on the store’s surveillance camera, which also captured the alleged suspects robbing the store for more than 20 minutes.
“You have to take all the rings,” one of the suspects can be heard telling the other. Both reportedly left with trays of jewellery, one of them said to have had his pockets full.
The New York Police Department released a photo of the two men early Sunday in hopes that someone could help identify them.
Cohen knew something was wrong when his father didn’t call after work on Fridays as he usually does. He checked out the camera at the store from his home and found the unimaginable.
He said, “I look ahead and see that they are actually fighting with my father, killing him.” “They nearly beat him to death just for robbing the store.”
Cohen said officers found his father when the robbers tried to hide him underground.
“It’s heartbreaking that this could happen to anyone’s parent,” Cohen said. “We need to wake up as a city, we need to wake up. This is not normal.”
