8 Colorado High School soccer games to watch in Week 10

Class 5A

No. 10 Columbine (6-3) vs. No. 8 Pomona (6-3)

When where: 4:00 pm Thursday at NAAC Stadium

Last meeting: Pomona 14, Columbine 11, November 13, 2020

Pomona can put the finishing touches on their incredible 0-2 season move to League champions Jeffco 5A with their third straight win over Columbine on the program. The Panthers’ defense allowed a double-digit result only once in the game – a 42-14 win over Arwada West – with four wins in a row. The Rebels guests play 1-2 against rated opponents this fall, including a 35-14 loss last week to Ralston Valley.

# 4 Arapaho (8-1) vs. No. 6 Grandview (7-2)

When where: 19:00, Thursday, Heritage Stadium

Last meeting: Grandview 38, Arapahoe 7, October 9, 2020

The last thing between Arapaho and a 5A Centennial League unbeaten run is Grandview, the program the Warriors last beat in 2015. This is also the last time Arapaho started the season 9-1. A win for the Wolves, coupled with a Cherry Creek win over Smoky Hill, would leave the Centennial League with a three-way draw at the top of the standings.

No. 9 ThunderRidge (8-1) vs. No. 1 Valor Christian (9-0)

When where: 19:00 Friday at the “Valor” stadium

Last meeting: Valor 49 vs. ThunderRidge 28, 25 October 2019

Winning after a seventh straight league title, Valor Christian faces the final hurdle to end the regular season as the only undefeated in 5A. ThunderRidge brings in tough defense valor (10.1 points per game) and a five-game win streak, but the Grizzlies have played with only one team that is currently in the top 10, and this is their only defeat (38-14 on Arapaho). If they do manage to cope with the frustration, this will be their first victory over Valor in five attempts.

Arvada West (7-2) – No. 5 Ralston Valley (8-1)

When where: 19:30 Friday at NAAC Stadium

Last meeting: 35 Ralston Valley, Arvada West, November 7, 12, 2020

A-West’s return to footballing stardom has a chance to come full circle on Friday as the Wildcats try to cement an 11-game losing streak that began in 2010. Valley lost 20-14 in 2017. This also corresponds to the most points they have scored on a Mustang during that time. Even with the prolific QB Ethan Cook (1,747 aisle yards, 19 TD) under center, banishing these RV demons will not be an easy task.

Class 4A

No. 10 Golden (7-2) vs. Bear Creek (7-2)

When where: 6pm Thursday at Trailblazer Stadium

Last meeting: Golden 28 vs Bear Creek 6, Nov 13, 2020

Few have had heartbreak in the past two weeks like the Demons – a period when their 7-0 start was weakened by massive defeats to Chatfield (50-49) and Dakota Ridge (45-38). … Another gunfight is likely to come against Bear Creek and his explosive assault, led by QB Jaedon Minter (1,873 passing yards, 18 TD), RB Ryan Segovia (1001 yards, 12 TD) and WR Blake Mcomber (797 receiving yards, 10 TD ).

Ponderosa (6: 3) – No. 1 Montrose (9: 0)

When where: 6:00 pm Friday in Montrose

Last meeting: Ponderosa 21 – Montrose 14, 6 November 2020

The Mustang’s recent prowess over Montrose (three straight wins) will be put to the test on Friday as the Indians try to complete their first unbeaten regular season in over 17 years. Ponderosa limps into the game, losing two out of three, including a 10-7 defeat to Vista Ridge last week. Montrose has scored 40-plus in three straight weeks, but will receive ample resistance from the Mustang defense, which has 61 tackles and 25 tackles this season.

No. 5 Palmer Ridge (8-1) vs. No. 9 Vista Ridge (6-2)

When where: 7:00 pm Friday at Vista Ridge
