A 4.7 magnitude earthquake shook Northern California

SACRAMENTO, California. – A magnitude 4.7 earthquake occurred this morning in Northern California, near Ferndale, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed.

The earthquake was centered 3 kilometers southwest of Ferndale, in Humboldt County, about 280 miles northwest of Sacramento.

The movement occurred around 8:30 am on Saturday and was felt in many areas of the northern Pacific coast and in cities such as Fortuna, Eureka and Petrolia, even in the areas of Redding and Chico.

As of 11:00 a.m. this Saturday, Humboldt County authorities have not reported any structural damage or injuries.
