A man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the disappearance of a 4-year-old girl, Athena Brownfield, who was in the suspect’s care at the time of her disappearance., According to Oklahoma investigators, he was accused of killing the girl on Christmas and burying her body before fleeing to Arizona.
The subject, identified as 35-year-old Evonne Adams, was charged with first-degree murder and child neglect in connection with the disappearance of Athena from the Adams home in Cyril, Oklahoma, and the girl’s alleged death.
For his part, his wife, Alicia Adams, 35, was charged with two counts of child neglect, and confessed to the girl’s fatal fate.
“Alicia confessed that on December 25, 2022, at about midnight that night, Ivonne struck (Athena) and grabbed her by the arms, (Athena) was not moving and her eyes were barely open”The Oklahoma State Office of Investigation (OSBI) reported in a probable cause affidavit filed in Caddo County through Special Agent Brenna Alvarez.

About a year or two before Athena’s disappearance, her biological mother, Jasmine Brownfield, left Athena and her other 5-year-old daughter, who is still alive, in the care of the Addams couple.
The affidavit states that the caretakers of the girls never took them to a doctor or enrolled them in school.
Athena was reported missing last week Around 2:00 pm a postman found the elder sister walking alone on a local street.
Following the girl’s discovery and report to police, authorities confirmed, via a press conference posted on Facebook, that Athena was missing, according to OSBI public information officer Brook Arbitman.
Athena’s older sister told a Cyril official that she was alone at homeAnd insisted she was tired of being alone, the affidavit indicated.
The officer later received a call from Alicia Adams to Athena, at which time officers determined the 4-year-old was missing.
