Two people died, eight were hospitalized and nine are missing after an explosion Friday night at a criminal factory in West Reading, in the state of Pennsylvania (USA).
City authorities have confirmed that at 2:57 a.m. there was a major explosion at the RM Palme Company chocolate factory, resulting in the destruction of the building and a fire in the rubble, NBC Philadelphia reports.
The cause of the explosion, which affects adjacent buildings but which, according to work requirements, does not pose a risk to residents near this commercial area, is still unknown.
The mayor of the town, Samantha Kaag, confirmed that the building was completely destroyed and the explosion moved its foundations more than a meter. He also warned that relief efforts would last throughout the night and probably over the weekend.
