A board program will combat mental health problems in school children

Ministry of Educational Development records the rise in cases since the pandemic and provides measures for its detection and prevention

The Junta de Andalucía has launched an emotional wellness program in the educational sector with the aim of combating the growing problems related to mental health suffered by Andalusian students, which have been increasing especially since the pandemic.

This innovative initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Educational Development and Vocational Training, aims to comprehensively improve and protect the health and emotional well-being of students in the final cycle of primary education, compulsory secondary education, level two, basic and intermediate vocational training. Public and aided centres, these centers also include teachers and other professionals.

The program considers specific actions in literacy and the establishment of indicators of emotional well-being and mental health to address these problems. The dissemination of good practices and awareness will also be promoted to prevent misuse and abuse of new technologies to avoid addictive behaviour.

For all this, the Ministry will have the cooperation of the Andalusian Psychological Associations and the support of non-profit organizations that specialize in the field of mental health and youth.
