The Monteolivete neighborhood is drowning in a heat wave. Since 5:00 p.m. this Friday, about 8,000 residents spent several hours without electricity, after several breakdowns in a medium-voltage underground line cut off supply to this neighborhood and en Cortés, according to Iberdrola. Although the problem affected thousands of customers at first, the company solved the problem by installing generator sets on the roads.

It so happens that this problem occurs in the same week that another malfunction in the cabanale left the 8,000 mark light without power. Company sources assure that these two problems are not related to each other and that the network is not overloaded, as was speculated on social networks and among residents of neighborhoods affected by these summer blackouts. “There are times when nothing happens all year and everything comes together at the same time,” he laments the supply company.

“We have had multiple breakdowns on the same line preventing us from performing feedback maneuvers, so we proceeded to install generator sets to progressively replenish the supply. At 2 a.m. we had already returned power to more than half of those affected,” he points to Iberdrola.

The company has so far connected 13 generator sets. “More than 75 employees, including his own and affiliates, have been working in the field for hours,” he remarks to the company. In Iberdrola, he explains that repairing underground lines takes a long time because “you have to locate the fault using radar and proceed to dive to reach the line and repair it.” It all happens in the worst hours of the heat wave: temperatures will reach 43 degrees this Sunday in Xàtiva, before going down a bit on Monday.
