A disastrous Sunday afternoon in Sainte-Brigitte-des-Saults

MISCELLANEOUS FACTS. A 36-year-old man lost his life on Sunday around 5:30 p.m. after a violent accident in Rang Saint-Édouard, near Chemin Allard.

The scene is chaotic. Car parts everywhere, a completely destroyed vehicle and citizens in a state of shock.

The Allard family was working on their farm in Rang Saint-Édouard when the accident occurred.

“The children were in the house looking for my girlfriend, because they had heard a big noise. When I left the barn, I couldn’t find her. She had approached the vehicle, but she did not dare to look closer. When I got to the guy, I checked her wrist and neck for a pulse…he already looked dead. Even his blood was no longer flowing. He seemed all broken,” explained Marc-André Allard, a witness to the event.

As L’Express was able to observe on the spot, the car came from the village of Saint-Brigitte-des-Saults and was heading towards Highway 20. At the entrance to the curve that led to 1015, called Saint-Édouard, the car moved slowly into the oncoming lane before sliding into the ditch. In the race, the car hit a culvert and was literally sent flying through the air. Upon impact with the ground, the vehicle overturned before ending its journey upside down.

“It happened like a rocket. “This is not the first time he has witnessed his passing,” said a neighbor friend of Mr. Allard.

Firefighters removed the victim’s body before paramedics transported him to the hospital.

Sergeant Éric Cadotte of the Sûreté du Québec confirmed the death of the thirty-year-old. “Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the hospital. A scene reconstruction police officer is on scene for the investigation. “Alcohol could be a factor.”

The road is still closed in the area (8:00 p.m.). A detour is planned and SIUCQ workers are on site to direct motorists.
