A former vice president revealed that Ramos and Besiktas are very close to a deal!

Sergio Ramos is now a new Sevilla player after weeks of speculation about his future, a player who was released in June at the end of his PSG contract. Is it now? Serhan Çetinsaya, former vice president of Besiktas, who brought to light an agreement that the center-back and the Turkish club are on the table, but that eventually faded away.

Çetinsaya assured that Besiktas is doing everything possible to acquire the services of the Spaniard, and that there is at least an agreement: “We are working hard to close the transfer of Ramos. We have an agreement, but it was not fulfilled. As a Besiktas fan, I would love to see this. We negotiated for 18 or 19 days. Money is secondary. Ramos received another offer of 27 million euros net, but he ignored it”

The former vice president further revealed that Ramos gave the green light to the operation after a meeting in Madrid: “On Monday afternoon, August 21, we received the answer “Congratulations to Beşiktaş” for the transfer. Ramos gave us the green light. We’re still talking about your agent’s bonuses. We prepare the contracts through our lawyers and send them to you. They invited us to their home in Madrid to do the rest of the procedures and bring Ramos to Turkey. We talked for a long time about how much we would pay if he scored more than 25 goals. “He asked for a huge amount of money because he thought he could score 25 goals.”

It was not an easy operation. ““Six clubs are competing for Sergio Ramos. Among them is Galatasaray. When we started negotiations it was impossible for him to sign for a team that didn’t play in the Champions League, but we managed to convince him. “Although Sergio Ramos wanted a 2-year contract, we agreed on a 1+1 contract,” said the former manager of Besiktas.

Serhan Çetinsaya admitted that everything collapsed due to sponsorship issues, and that the club lacked the investment to secure the contract of what would have been their new signing:We promised him 4 million euros, 1 million for the signature and 6 million euros to be paid to a sponsor in exchange for the recording of an advertisement. Due to the possibility of not finding a sponsor, the president was suspicious of those 6 million and we withdrew the transfer through the decision of our president.

In the end, Sergio Ramos returns home, to Sevilla, club where he trained and became one of the best center backs in the league.
