A positive body image is associated with higher life satisfaction
A new study shows that positive body image may also have other benefits, such as better overall mental health.
Researchers in England used data from tens of thousands of participants in 65 countries. They say that a greater appreciation of the body is characterized by greater life satisfaction and better mental well-being.
The study also said body appreciation was higher among single participants than among participants who were married or in a committed relationship.
Marijuana and tobacco use can lead to anxiety and depression
Researchers say marijuana and tobacco use may be linked to anxiety and depression.
A recent study analyzed data from nearly 54,000 adults in the country between 2020 and 2022. Researchers found that those who used tobacco and cannabis were more likely to report these mental health problems than those who did not use either substance.
Experts say more research is needed to find out the extent and cause of the link between the substances and the diseases.
Psychedelics and mental health
The incidence of anxiety, depression and other mental health problems is increasing. While traditional treatments exist, some proponents of psychedelic mushrooms hope they can open new doors for the future of mental health.
Oregon was the first state to legalize magic mushrooms, and the industry is still growing today.
According to a recent study, alcohol consumption among adults who abused alcohol decreased by 83% after treatment with two doses of magic mushrooms and psychotherapy. Some researchers say the mushrooms may also provide relief from post-traumatic stress disorder and major depression.
