Mexico City.- (Veracruz Vanguard).- This Tuesday, Nicias René “N”, who is linked to the so-called real estate cartel, was sentenced to three years in prison for the former Director of Works of the Benito Juárez Mayor’s Office.
The sentence was announced via an information letter from the Mexico City attorney general’s office shared on social networks.
“Nicias Rene ‘N’ served as general director of the construction of demarcations and urban development from 2006 to 2018,” Ulises Lara López, spokesman for the prosecutor’s office, said during a press conference.
He also indicated that the reason for the conviction was for the crime of illegal enrichment, however, there are more investigation folders against Benito Juárez, a former official of the mayor’s office.
According to information reported by Lara López, Nicias “N” admitted his responsibility for the crime of illegal enrichment during a brief trial.
“The judicial authority has also prescribed the payment of a fine for conviction (…) in a summary procedure the defendant is given an opportunity to accept responsibility, to avoid a lengthy trial,” he said.
It should be remembered that Nikias “N” was transferred to the northern prison in October 2022, illegally obtained resources through an enrichment scheme based on the exchange of favors through the so-called “real estate cartel”. was accused of doing.
According to the investigation, the detainee authorized the habitability of a building on Avenida Emiliano Zapata, which collapsed in the 2017 earthquake and, as a result, was suspended in 2020.
