From the first discussions to the presentation of the collection, three years have passed, during which the ties between the two houses have intensified due to their great respect for the use of the most exclusive natural fibers in textile production, as well as traceability. Bailey Hunter, Creative Director of The Elder Statesman, had the opportunity to reinterpret some of Sartori’s menswear classics, incorporating vibrant colors, whimsical prints, rich textures and relaxed silhouettes.
Almost 10,000 kilometers separate The Elder Statesman’s factory in Los Angeles from Oasi Zegna, the point of Italian geography near the Alps where the commitment and connection of the Italian house to nature and the environment are evident.
Lightweight, comfortable and easy to wear – steeped in The Elder Statesman’s upbeat Californian spirit – the collection’s garments are designed to provide a seamless transition between indoors and outdoors, work and play, day and night. They also represent a first step for The Elder Statesman to enrich its supply chain with the textile expertise of the Zegna Group and to further improve the work of its own artisans.
“Dialogues like this allow us to add new layers to our world and find other ways of expressing Oasi Cashmere. We worked entirely together on this collection, merging our shapes with the distinctive colors and omnipresent spontaneity of The Elder Statesman,” said Sartori Chait .” At the origin of this union are two companies that value the way things are done. In fact, we sometimes feel like ZEGNA’s eccentric cousins who settled in Los Angeles and brought a centuries-old craft to the new world.”
To promote this collaboration, a campaign featuring Spanish-German actor Daniel Brühl was recorded at the historic ZEGNA factory – in the heart of Oasi Zegna. As a longtime friend of the house, Brühl looks behind the scenes to learn more about the spirit of the collection and its impeccable craftsmanship.
The collection will be available from September 2023 in leading ZEGNA stores worldwide, through The Elder Statesman retail channels and select wholesalers.
