A 70-year-old pensioner was murdered last Wednesday by a man who prevented him from leaving his home to walk his dog, forced him back inside and stabbed him multiple times with a kitchen knife.

Liliana, the wife of the victim, told authorities in Lanús, Argentina, that minutes after seeing her husband Arnaldo walking the dog, she saw him with 33-year-old Sandro Jonathan Giménez entered the house who threatened to kill him, La Nación reported.

Police at Lanús Police Station launched a full investigation that included reviewing surveillance cameras and interviewing other residents to locate and identify the suspect.

During the inspection, officers in Giménez found one of the stolen cellphones, the wedding rings and some of the stolen money.

“He had kept the victim’s wife’s cell phone. He reset it and changed the chip. He did it in case he got arrested. In addition, he uploaded photos to his social networks as if they were his own. “He bought the chip a few hours ago,” an investigator into the case told Telam.

Both detainees were made available to the prosecutor Sebastián Fernández of the Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) 5 of the Lanús Department of Justice, who charged Giménez with “aggravated murder” and “aggravated cover-up” of Florentino.
