A police officer was killed and another was injured in a shootout in Ecatepec

This Monday, December 26, a shootout in the streets of Ecatepec, State of Mexico left one policeman dead, as well as one injured and two detained.

The incidents took place shortly after 10:00 am on Avenida Aqueducto, in the Benito Juárez neighborhood, at the height of the First Section, when agents of the Vehicle Recovery Branch and municipal police officers conducted an operation against the theft of a car.

According to the first reports, the shooting took place right next to the Mexico-Pachuca highway after policemen caught the alleged assailants who robbed a driver’s vehicle on December 25 in the municipality from Texcoco.

Despite the fact that emergency services quickly came to the aid of the two officers who were shot, one of them, Alejandro Mendez, died.
