The Association of Families and Families of People with Disabilities (Afymos) has been working in Socuéllamos for more than 30 years as an association, during which time it has been recognized for its work and dedication to people not only disabled, but also for the cause. workshops, occupational, especially crafts and bookbinding. But looking for disabilities that could be alleviated, the board of directors gradually over eight years began to work on a new dream, the insertion of people with disabilities in the rural environment. A new journey that started in the companies in Socuéllamos practices of work experiences, with people who were part of the service organization, “try to increase the strength, trusting in the skills and the strength to promote”. Later, the CREA call arose, the training and use of labor in collaboration with local companies for people at risk of vulnerability and difficult access to the labor market, which also included people with disabilities. Founded by the Ministry of Economy, Business and Employment, Afymos represented a new horizon, because the Community Board supported the new methodology for this work.
In the beginning: “It was uncertain, but good practice and the support of businessmen were carried out to consolidate their structure, promising the work of the philosophy.” A reflection of this is that in 2018 the first contract comes. Cabezuelo Foods’ first company was one of its student employees, Quico, who became permanent after several temporary contracts. The first socio-labor insertion was achieved.
A year later, Inkiele’s company made another contract. Tomás had a permanent contract and, like Quico, it changed his quality of life, improving his emotional well-being and self-esteem.
But the arrival of the call to the New CREA plan is one of the most important steps to complete the incorporation of people with the greatest need for support in a normalized environment. So, after completing this program, and having an excellent career in the company, Rafa was also hired indefinitely at Destrupaper, when the company Arte Religioso Salmerón opened its doors to Pedro through an internship.
Different models that show ambitious ideas, today there are a series of projects that “have meant that many dreams come true for people who work, and also for professional people who make up this great family”.
