A suitable medical center is looking for the help of animals

The founder and director of Car-can, Javier Herrera, said in an interview that he created this particular clinic because of the need to avoid euthanasia in dogs and cats that arrive at the veterinarian’s office with a diagnosis due to an unfair disability.

“We are going to celebrate 20 years. In Mexico we are pioneers in making wheelchairs, and we do what every little animal in the condition of disability requires,” he said.


Almost 7 out of 10 Mexicans own a pet, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).

In this context, Herrera also disagreed with options such as buying and selling care for those who are dying.

So Herrera, who is a veterinarian, has turned her home in the office of Xochimilco Mayor, in the south of Mexico City, into a center for clinical and rehabilitation care, where cats and dogs receive different approaches to therapy, such as hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, and acupuncture. among others opposites.

The pet sector in Mexico has a value of 2,400 million dollars, the twelfth place in the world and the second in Latin America, according to a Euromonitor consultation.

The e-commerce business of pet care has grown nearly 800% from 2015 to 2020, according to the same agency.

Later, he was joined by his wife and daughter, who now manages the site, and now has a formal staff of 17 employees.

“It is a beautiful job, this is like the house where we used to live, we have turned into offices and everything is dedicated to them and I am happy because it also offers a job, a salary and also training,” said Herrera.

Car-can also modernize, so they provide service through WhatsApp and networks such as Facebook and Instagram, which also provide other more general services and pose such as veterinary consultations, vaccinations, sterilization, boarding dogs and other rarer ones. such as x-rays, dog spas and sale accessories.
