A38 to stay shut all morning

The A38 heading eastbound is expected to remain closed until at least midday following a serious collision involving a motorbike and lorry last night, May 12. Investigation work is currently taking place at the site of the incident between the B3413 (St Budeaux Junction) to A386 Outland Road (Manadon Roundabout).

In a tweet, the South West National Highways Twitter account alerted motorists of the incident, announcing the road would be closed for ‘some time’.

The tweet reads: “The #A38 in #devon is CLOSED eastbound between the #B3413 , #StBudeaux ) and the #A386 (near #plymouth ) due to a serious collision involving a lorry and a motorbike. The road is expected to be closed for some time.”

A diversion has been put in place to avoid disruption on the roads this morning.

  • Leave the A38 eastbound at St Budeaux interchange
  • Take the B3413 and then continue until the junction with the A386
  • Continue on the A386 and then re-join the A38 eastbound at Manadon Interchange

Drivers planning to travel this morning are being advised to allow extra time for their journey or even delay it. Traffic website Inrix reports: “A38 The Parkway Eastbound is closed due to accident investigation work from B3413 (St Budeaux Junction) to A386 Outland Road (Manadon Roundabout).

“The road is expected to remain closed across the morning after a lorry and a motorbike were involved in an accident. Diversion – Via Crownhill Road followed by Tavistock Road to re-join the A38.”
