Tata Motors currently tops the electric vehicle segment in India. To compete with its empire, Maruti is working on launching its electric car in the market. Now its new update has also come forward. Maruti Suzuki will start production of electric models at Suzuki Motor Corporation’s Gujarat plant from 2024-25. Chairman of the organization RC Bhargava informed this information.
According to the report, the company aims to keep the price of the car low so that it can dominate the market.
Maruti Suzuki has also started preparations to set up a new factory at Kharkhoda in Haryana keeping in mind its further requirements. 11,000 crores will be invested in the first phase of this factory.
Maruti dominates the CNG and passenger segments
Maruti Suzuki dominates the passenger segment with CNG. But now Maruti is preparing to bring electric cars. It will be an electric SUV. Which is jointly developed by Suzuki-Toyota. According to reports, this electric SUV will hit the market during the festive season of 2024.
500 km range
This electric SUV from Maruti will come with both 2WD and 4WD drivetrain options. The 2WD variant can get a 48kWh battery pack and a 138bhp motor. It is expected to give a range of around 400 km. On the other hand, the 4WD variant will have two electric motors and a larger 59kWh battery pack. Its range can be around 500 km.
If reports are to be believed, the company is aiming to price its new electric SUV between Rs 13 lakh and Rs 15 lakh.
