ABB Robotics finds labor shortages one of the challenges to car manufacturing
Rising labor costs and growing labor shortages are increasing global concerns for automotive manufacturing, according to a new survey commissioned by ABB Robotics, which was conducted in partnership with leading industry publication Automotive Manufacturing Solutions. Almost a third (31%) of all respondents listed labor shortages among their top three challenges, with 35% ranking labor as the top area of concern as costs rise..
Crucially, the survey reveals that these concerns are not limited to just general shortages. More than half (56%) identified their own skills shortages when asked to address manpower and skills challenges, followed by 48% who believe new skills are required due to the rapidly changing automotive landscape, suggesting more is needed. ABB’s survey included nearly 600 global industry experts, from vehicle and supply manufacturers to all levels of management, engineering and other key professionals across the automotive world.
