About 2 thousand cars failed: Profeco warned about these brands

WOLFSBURG, GERMANY – NOVEMBER 14: New VW cars wait to be loaded onto trucks at the Volkswagen car factory on November 14, 2008 in Wolfsburg, Germany. Many European carmakers are tightening their belts as consumers hold back on new car purchases in the face of the global financial crisis. The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, or OECD, reported that Germany has officially entered a recession after two consecutive quarters of negative growth.

The Federal Consumer Attorney’s Office (Profeco) has warned the public about approximately two thousand cars that present defects and are to be taken in for review.

Together with the companies Kia, General Motors and Volkswagen, Profeco asked to review about two thousand cars for failures.

What cars does Profeco ask to review?

This list features cars from the Kia, General Motors, and Volkswagen brands, the models that are focused on are:

  • 703 Kia units, Sorento model year 2016;
  • 1,087 from General Motors: 254 Cadillac XT5 model years from 2020 to 2021 and 833 Acadia model years from 2020 to 2021
  • Volkswagen 208 from Porsche Panamera model years 2017 to 2021

Sorento Year 2006

This vehicle presents a potential effect in the operation of the gear lock lever in the automatic transmission, which will cause displacement of the car, whether it is on or off. The lever will be checked and replaced if necessary.

Cadillac Models XT5 2020 – 2021

There is a risk in this model that the additional 360° vision camera may stop working, reducing rear visibility. Because of this, the company will replace the coaxial cables that transmit the camera signal for free.

Porsche Panamera

Porsche Panamera models may introduce a potential moisture in the control unit of the air conditioning regulation addition pump, which could cause a short circuit, which in some cases could result in a fire. To avoid this, the additional pump for regulating the air conditioning will be replaced and the electrical connection will be checked.

What if you need a change?

If you have one of these models, it should be checked free of charge and, if necessary, defective parts replaced at no cost.
