The Secretariat of Education and Health should implement awareness campaigns to prevent and reduce the problem of access to mobile devices, as they cause depression, other disturbances and can lead to suicide attempts.

Nomophobia is a recent term to refer to mobile device addiction, a new age non-chemical addiction that occurs more in children and adolescents.

“Excessive use of digital screens leads to significant health problems, such as irritability, irritability, eating disorders and sleep disorders. The use of overlooked adults can make children and young people victims or make harmful cyberbullies, robberies, threats and extortions”, explained deputy Laura Francisca Aguilar Tabares (Morena)

Various studies indicate that minors can show anxiety about losing the device, 49% of girls present symptoms of rejection and 35% also experience an irrational fear of leaving home without the device.

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that suicide attempts among minors are on the rise and that the indiscriminate use of technology is a coinciding factor.

50% of young people in our country are more addicted to mobile phones than in Japan; The United Kingdom or the United States, according to a study by the School of Communication and Journalism by Annenberg, and 45% of the parents of these children have given up the plan, and their life patterns have changed.

“71% check their cell phone almost all the time; 34% wake up early to respond to notifications; 1 in 4 check 5 minutes after waking up; 57% 30 minutes, and 40% express the urge to respond when information arrives”.

On average, we use that five hours a day, which increases the risk of developing a disorder, so it is necessary to warn about it in schools and at home, and to carry out studies to detect the impact on the health of the body and mind; to destroy destructive ideas.

“Mental health and disruptive behavior need to be part of the educational context, beyond just complying with the academic curriculum. The educational staff must be aware of the importance of social co-responsibility and their role in avoiding suicide and to know about the warning signs”, he concluded.
