Afghanistan won the toss, decided to bat against New Zealand

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (NWN) – New Zealand lost the toss against Afghanistan and will look to win their final group match in the T20 World Cup on Sunday.

If they beat Afghanistan, New Zealand will seal the final semi-final spot without going into the complexities of net run-rate. Pakistan has already qualified for the semi-finals from Group 2 while England and Australia have advanced to the last four from Group 1.

If Afghanistan wins against the Black Caps, India will be a strong contender to qualify for the semi-finals as they face Namibia in their last group game on Monday.

Afghanistan off-spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman returned to the side to speed up the attack after missing the last two matches due to injury. He has replaced Sharafuddin Ahmed.
