Ford India closed their business in the Indian market in September last year. The company has two plants in India. One is conveniently located near Ahmedabad in Gujarat. The other is located near Chennai in Tamil Nadu. Ford used to manufacture small cars like Figo, Freestyle and Aspire from the Sanand plant. While Ford manufactured the EcoSport and Endeavor from the Chennai plant. The company has already stopped production at the Sanand plant. Now it manufactures the last units of the latest Ford EcoSport from its Chennai plant. No more cars will be made at this plant. That is, Ford has now bye-byeed the Indian market forever.
Features and specifications of Ford EcoSport
>> In the petrol version of the Ford EcoSport, the company has given a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that generates 121hp of power and 149Nm of torque. On the other hand, in the diesel version, the company has given a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine, which generates 100hp of power and 215Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox. This SUV has a tank capacity of 52 liters. Once it is full, you can cover a distance of 1,196 km.
>> Features like side curtain airbag, traction control, electronic stability control, hill start assist, cruise control, auto dimming in rear view mirror, auto wiper, rear seat arm rest, leather seat cover are not offered in this SUV. Ford had 11,000 employees nationwide
Ford’s manufacturing units in India were at Maraimalai and Sanande, employing around 4,000 workers. The engine plant at Sanand had more than 500 workers. which makes the engine for the best-selling Ranger pickup truck. Approximately 100 employees were used to support parts distribution and customer service. However, the company had 11,000 employees nationwide.
Year-over-year sales fell 68.1% in August 2021
In August 2021, Ford sold 1,508 units across the country, as against 4,731 units in August last year. That is, the company’s sales decreased by 68.1%. According to FADA’s report, Ford India Pvt Ltd registered 3,604 vehicles in the passenger vehicle segment in August. At the same time, its market share was only 1.42%. The company’s market share stood at 1.90% in August 2020.

10 lakh subscribers in 2018
