New Delhi: A series of diversions are unfolding in Tripura West Agartala DM and Collector Shailesh Yadav (Tripura West Agartala DM) of Tripura on April 26 in connection with the wedding ban between Corona’s restrictions in two marriage halls. The Tripura government has now removed Collector Shailesh Yadav from West Agartala till the completion of the inquiry. In his place, IAS Rawal Hemendra Kumar of 2011 batch has been appointed as the new DM of West Agartala.
The DM apologized for his misconduct after the video went viral on social media, but now the controversy is growing. The Tripura High Court has accepted the case against Shailesh Yadav and sought a response from the state government. It is being said that there was a lot of pressure on the state government to take action against DM Shailesh Yadav.
The All India Brahmin Society has also demanded the state government to punish the DM against slapping the Pandit. At the same time, BJP MLA from Surma Ashish Das was continuously staging a protest in front of Gandhiji’s statue on VIP Road demanding the removal of Yadav. While Punjab BJP spokesperson Gaurav Goyal also wrote a letter to the Tripura Chief Minister demanding the removal of Shailesh Yadav.
On Friday, the DM was summoned in this case by a high-level committee set up by Chief Minister Biplab Dev. Yadav appeared before a committee of IAS officers Kiran Gittay and Tanushree Debbarma on Friday. After completing both the investigations, they will submit their report to the Chief Secretary, after which the report will be submitted to Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
In this case, the family of the bride has lodged an FIR. On the other hand, an FIR has also been lodged against the bride’s side by the DM. The bride’s brother Subrajeet Deb gave the details of the incident in a Facebook post three days ago.
Subrajit wrote, On April 29, at 8 am, I got a news from the local newspaper that on 28/04/2021, DM. Shailesh Yadav has filed an FIR against us. We have consulted one of the top lawyers in our state and have written an application to Superintendent of Police Agartala to accept our FIR under Section 156 (3) of the CrPC. For fear of being rejected again and upset (as happened while filing the FIR), I sent a prayer this evening via registered post.
The bride’s brother said, after consulting my lawyer, the rest of the legal proceedings will be updated. With this, Subrajit appealed, saying, “My parents are elderly post angioplasty hypertensive, diabetic and on many medications.” His health is improving after the trauma. So no media personnel or well wishers should try to contact me or my parents. Hope we get justice.
