Dr. Nelson Soto, President of the University of Albizu, was elected to the Network of Excellence in Education, a national entity that unites efforts to advance the development of Latino students in institutions of higher education.
This important national network is made up of college and university presidents and vice chancellors committed to making their institutions learning environments where Latino students thrive. Network Institutes of Excellence are transforming higher education.
“It is an honor for me to be a part of such a prestigious and influential organization in the careers of young Latinos throughout the United States. Our University of Albizu is dedicated to helping our students achieve their educational goals and find a path to the future. There is a commitment to help pave,” said the doctor.
Through the network, the President of the University of Albizu will collaborate with the educational network and share collective experience and resources, promote associations and broaden the scope of the network of excellence in education in Puerto Rico.
More than 150 leaders from 175 institutions enroll one in four Latino students at the higher education level in the network, which is affiliated with thousands of colleges and universities across the country.
More importantly, Latinos account for one in three of the graduates at these institutions. In fact, 30 institutions, including the University of Albizu, have been certified with the Seal of Excellence, which represents 13% of all Latinos enrolled and 14% of all Latino graduates in the United States.
Professionals of Excellence, leadership networks, and their campus teams actively collaborate to implement evidence-based practices and strategic analysis of student data to support and promote the talents, abilities, and contributions of Latino students and institutions.
Sarita Brown, co-founder and president of the Excellence in Education Network, commented, “Higher education leaders with skill and vision are critical to our nation’s strong recovery. They are ready to engage and serve Latino students as they serve all of their students, they will lead the way.
The organization works with the presidents, educational leaders, and presidents of trend-setting colleges and universities that have risen to the challenge. Network leaders with excellence have joined forces to accelerate the success of Latino students in higher education.
