Amarinder Singh and Yogi’s heated remarks about creating a new district in Punjab

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath had a bitter argument for creating a new district in Punjab, which the Chief Minister of UP tweeted tweeting Congress’s “Partition Policy”.

Amarinder Singh said in a statement a few hours after the UP counterpart’s tweet that Adityanath’s remarks were “an attempt to incite communal hatred in a peaceful state under BJP’s divisive policies”.

Singh on Friday declared the name of Punjab’s newest and its 23rd district Malerkotla, which is about 131 km from Chandigarh, to be carved out of Sangrur district.

The Punjab CM tweeted, “Glad to state that on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr my government has announced Malerkotla as the newest district in the state. The 23rd district has historical significance. The district. An order has been ordered to immediately locate a suitable site for the administrative complex. ”

Sikhs around the world honor Sher Mohammad Khan, the former Nawab of Malerkotla, who raised his voice against the torture of two sons of the 10th Sikh Guru Gobind Singh by the Mughals.

However, the Punjab government’s move was criticized by the UP chief minister. Adityanath tweeted in Hindi, “Any distinction based on faith and religion is contrary to the spirit of the Constitution of India. At this time, the formation of Malerkotla (Punjab) is a reflection of the divisive policy of the Congress.”

Responding to Adityanath, the Punjab Chief Minister said in a statement today that his UP counterpart should stay away from the affairs of Punjab, “which are in a much better position than UP under the divisive and disastrous BJP government, which has been for the last four years.” The state is actively promoting communal strife. “

Amarinder Singh said, “What does he (Adityanath) know about the ethos of Punjab or the history of Malerkotla, which every Punjabi knows about the relationship with Sikhism and its gurus? And what he understands about the Indian Constitution, Which is being shamelessly trampled every day by his government in UP. “

Malerkotla was founded in 1454 by Sheikh Sadruddin-e-Jahan of Afghanistan and later the state of Malerkotla was founded in 1657 by Bayezid Khan. Later it was merged with other nearby princely states to form Patiala and East Punjab States Union or PEPSU. During the reorganization of the states in 1956, the territory of the former state of Malerkotla became part of Punjab.

Amarinder Singh, who hails from the erstwhile Patiala royalty, recalled his cordial relationship with the then Nawab of Malerkotla, whom he fondly called “Chachaji”.
