Amber Heard testifies that Johnny Depp attacked her

FAIRFAX, Va. ( Associated Press) – Amber Heard said she knew she should give up when Johnny Depp hit her in the first place, but she couldn’t bring herself to do so.

“I knew I couldn’t forgive him, well, because that means it will happen again. Like, I’ve seen videos of health class,” Heard told the jurors through tears as she spoke out against her. Took a stand in Depp’s defamation lawsuit, “My heart was broken.”

Heard said she left after being slapped, but Depp came back a few days later with an apology, a few cases of his favorite wine, and a promise that he would never do it again.

“I wanted to believe in him, so I chose,” she said.

Depp, 58, has filed a defamation suit in Fairfax County Circuit Court after writing a December 2018 op-ed in The Washington Post. Describing himself as “a public figure representing domestic abuse”. Depp’s name is not mentioned in the article, but Depp’s lawyers say he was defamed because it explicitly mentions the allegations made by him during their divorce proceedings in 2016.

Most of the trials have focused on whether Heard was indeed abused, something Depp denies.

Hurd took the stand for the first time on Wednesday. She also described the time she said she was sexually assaulted by Depp because he angrily called her a “cavity search.”

She said the two of them and some friends went to the Hicksville Trailer Palace in Joshua Tree, California, in May 2013 for what was going to be a good night in the desert. He consumed psychotropic mushrooms, and Depp was jealous when he saw another woman acting in a flirtatious manner with Heard.

Heard said that she and Depp went to a trailer, which they promptly deleted. He then accused her of hiding his drugs, tore her dress and started patting her, she said.

“He was telling me, ‘We’re going to do a cavity search,'” he said through tears. “He just moved his fingers inside me. I just stood there, looking at the light. ,

Hurd begins his testimony by telling the jurors how they met and fell in love while shooting a movie.

Despite their 22-year age difference, Heard said that there was an instant connection when Depp met her as he considered her for a role in his film “The Rum Diary”.

“I was an actor without a name. I was 22 years old. He was twice my age. He’s this world famous actor and here we are talking about obscure books, old blues” music, said Heard, now 36.

While they had chemistry during the filming of the film, they said that they didn’t start dating until doing a press tour for the film’s release in 2011. Initially, they kept their relationship a secret.

“We weren’t doing normal life stuff. … We were in this bubble of privacy, and it felt like a hot flash,” she said.

She said the first act of physical violence came in 2013 because she was looking at one of his tattoos and could not read it. She laughed when Depp told her that “Vino”—a change in tattoo she made while dating actor Winona Ryder.

Heard said that she laughed again when he slapped her, thinking it would be a joke. Then he slapped her twice, the third time she lost her balance, Heard said.

Depp, who has already taken the stand and testified for four days, told a different version of the story to the jurors.,

“It didn’t happen,” he said of the alleged attack. “Why would I take such a huge offense to someone who mocked a tattoo on my body? That allegation never meant anything to me.”

Through most of Heard’s testimony, Depp looked at the table in front of him.

Hurd said Depp’s violent episodes were usually triggered by some combination of heartburn and drug or alcohol use.

“Johnny on speed is very different from Johnny on opiates. Johnny on opiates is very different from Adderall and cocaine, which is very different from Johnny on merit, but I got to be good at noticing different versions of him,” she said.

Depp has testified that he has no problem with alcohol and is famous for his handling of alcohol. He acknowledged a problem with the prescription pills but said he has overcome it.

Similarly, Depp’s family, friends and staff have downplayed the notion that Depp was struggling with alcoholism. On Wednesday, Hurd said this is a big part of the problem. She said that almost everyone around Johnny was charmed by her and forgave her bad behavior.

“Nobody told him. No one was honest with him,” she said. “He died of his own vomit, he lost control of his body and everyone cleaned up behind him. I cleaned up after that. ,

Heard’s testimony has been highly anticipated in a trial that has reached its fourth week. Supporters of Depp have questioned, among other things, why Heard would have been in a relationship where she was the victim of abuse. Hurd addressed that question several times on Wednesday.

“When it was good, it was great. I have never felt such love,” she said. “But that was another thing, too. And that other thing was terrible. ,
