The defending national champions, Águilas Mérida, will face Seattle Spartans of the United States in the second edition of the 2023 Women’s Mayan Bowl, which will be held this Sunday, August 6 at 8:30 am in La Cancha. Located next to the University of Marista in the Periférico de Mérida.
The Yucatecan winged team, which was declared emperor of the V National Women’s Free American Football Tournament in Monterrey, Nuevo León last December, will once again compete against the American team, which will have free entry.
With the presence of Jesús Aguilar y Aguilar, Technical Secretary of Sports of the Merida City Council; Nicole Pelham, head coach and owner of the Seattle Spartans; The president of LIFE and the promoter of the tournament, José Ortega Villanueva, announced that the Spartans would offer two free clinics in the areas of the San Antonio Cauia neighborhood and the Fracionamiento del Parque “Los Raptores”, which would be attended by the team’s players. Women’s Football Federation (WFA).
“We are consolidating important sports activities these days and formulating a strategy for women’s sports,” said Aguilar y Aguilar.
On his part, Ortega Villanueva emphasized that the mission and objective is to keep new values, attract new talents and provide them space to showcase their level, and thus better sports development.
