American Thomas Keller to receive Gastronomica Tribute Award

American chef Thomas Keller will receive the 2022 San Sebastian Gastronomica Tribute Award, which will be held next month in the capital of San Sebastian.

As Gastronomica explained in a statement, Keller (California, 1955) is “one of the best chefs in the United States and one of the definitive characters in the history of cooking.”

He is the first and only American chef to achieve three Michelin stars in two restaurants at the same time, as well as the first American chef to be named a Knight of the French Legion of Honor.

It has several stores in different parts of the country, including two of its most emblematic restaurants: The French Laundry, in Napa Valley, and Per Se, in New York.

Keller will add this tribute award from the San Sebastian Congress to a long list of recognitions, including the Chef of the Year award from the Culinary Institute of America and the Exceptional Chefs and Extraordinary Restaurants awarded by the James Beard Foundation.

He holds an honorary doctorate in culinary arts from the Culinary Institute of America and has sold over 1.5 million copies of his six cookbooks.
