Moscow, May 23 – Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, has declared in an exclusive interview with RT that the US aims to destroy Russia, but Moscow will not allow it.
When asked what the US aims in the conflict in Ukraine, Medvedev replied that “the destruction of the Russian Federation, or at least its extent, its prevention.”
The former Russian president said that Washington “does the same with China,” but “the ultimate goal is the destruction of Russia as a country.” “We will not allow this,” he insisted.
Similarly, the senior official defended that the US should compensate Russia for the damage caused by the blowing up of the Nord Stream gas pipelines as well as rebuild Artyomovsk, Mariupol and other places that were “destroyed with their help and support”. were “with my own money”.
“No one to talk to”
According to Medvedev, NATO “does not take seriously” the possibility of a nuclear conflict, because “otherwise, it would not be supplying such dangerous weapons to the Ukrainian regime.”
“Apparently, they think that a nuclear conflict […] It is impossible,” he said, adding that the West “is wrong.” He warned, “At some point, events may take a completely unexpected turn and the responsibility will fall entirely on the Atlantic Alliance.”
In this context, he stressed that “nobody knows” what the “turning point” is and that “he is the main threat”, as the West continues to provide Kiev with more and more powerful weapons.
Among other things, Medvedev said that Moscow’s efforts to reach an agreement with the West were a “waste of time”. “They weren’t ready to talk,” he lamented.
“They are pitiful and pathetic people,” he said, referring to a quote from the novel “The Golden Calf” by writers Ilf and Petrov. The senior official believes that the West “does not want peace, wants war, does not want cooperation, wants confrontation and tries to weaken Russia in every way”.
