Announcement of new direct flights between Tamworth and Sydney

Established Australian airline Link Airways is delighted to announce that it will launch scheduled direct flights between Tamworth and Sydney using the airline’s 34 passenger Saab 340B Plus aircraft. First flight will be on Monday 27 June 2022 with a schedule of 28 return services per week. The schedule will work at the following times:


The Saab 340B Plus aircraft has full in-flight cabin service and the standard offer includes hot and cold drinks and premium snacks with complimentary beer / wine available on all afternoon and evening services.

With a flight time of just over 60 minutes, this new service will offer passengers from Tamworth and Sydney the opportunity to spend a full working day at their destination and return home the same afternoon, while also facilitating potential for weekend stays .

Link Airways CEO Andrew Major said that “the airline is very proud to be able to offer these new services which will significantly improve the connection between Tamworth and Sydney”. He indicated that detailed research and discussions with existing customers over several years have identified a strong demand for flights between Tamworth and Sydney that offer additional business-friendly day-trip time calculations and additional capacity on the route. In recognition of the numerous businesses and individuals who have approached Link Airways in connection with the establishment of these additional services, Mr Major also thanked the Tamworth Regional Council for their support. He concluded by stating that Link Airways has been operating between Tamworth and Brisbane route since 2016, building a solid reputation in the region as a provider of reliable, efficient and affordable airlines and that he looks forward to both familiar faces and new to welcome travelers on board.

Tamworth Region Mayor Russell Webb said: “Today’s announcement by Link Airways is welcome news for the Tamworth community, as a second airline flying directly to Sydney has long been in demand . It is a wonderful opportunity for locals and travelers, and is just another way to attract people to the region. ”

Cr Russell added “Tamworth Regional Council has worked hard to revive Tamworth Regional Airport, and this is just another example of how we make strategic decisions today as part of Blueprint 100 to ensure we plan our region over the years “We thank Link Airways for their continued support of the Tamworth region and our community, and we look forward to this additional flight route starting in the coming months.”
