A win on matchday 11 of the BetPlay II League. “Cariaco”, Bacca and even Lencina scored 1:5.
Junior from Barranquilla entered the top eight of the BetPlay II-2023 League without permission and overwhelmed his second rival in a row, defeating Alianza Petrolera 1-5 this Thursday in Barrancabermeja in a game on matchday 11.
After winning the Costa Classic 7-1 against Unión Magdalena, some claimed the matchday 10 victory was a fluke as Unión played with ten men from minute 5. Even coach Harold Rivera left this message, not knowing that the shark was overwhelming.
So the team led by Arturo Reyes confirmed this Thursday that it was no coincidence that Junior has tuned the machine and is aimed at good results.
However, things didn’t go well for Junior at the Daniel Villa Zapata Stadium as Jermein Peña knocked down Jesús Muñoz as he entered the penalty area and referee Luis Delgado whistled a penalty for the local team. Alianza took a 1-0 lead with Sebastián Acosta scoring a goal.
Then came Junior’s reaction and comeback: Brayan Ceballos attacked the ball from a corner kick and overcame goalkeeper Pier Grazziani’s poor start with a header to make it 1-1. In the 19th minute, Carlos Bacca finished very hard, Grazziani missed the rebound and Luis “Cariaco” González converted with a header to make it 1-2.
In the 44th minute, the goal came from Carlos Bacca, who received an assist from Déiber Caicedo. 1-3 on the scoreboard and then the VAR checked the game before this result, since Sebastián Acosta committed a strong foul, he was reprimanded and sent off.
The second half then started with Alianza with ten men, but they were already losing 1-3, so no one can say that Junior took advantage of another accident. Of course they took the chance to extend their lead and score a goal.
“Cariaco” scored 1-4 and scored a brace; while Germán Lencina scored his first goal with the shark and secured the score 1:5.
