Anthony Davis left Lakers vs. Trail Blazers due to illness

The message came from the Lakers about 45 minutes before they faced the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday night.

“AD is a move,” the text says, referring to Anthony Davis’ play when he dealt with a sprained right thumb that he received Thursday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Staples Center.

Then another message came from the Lakers, 9:19 am to the end of the second quarter, that Davis was out for the rest of the game due to stomach trouble.

Before leaving, Davis missed four of five shots and scored two points after three rebounds.

Lakers coach Frank Vogel told reporters that Davis was at the Moda Center “testing his thumb” prior to the game. Davis didn’t have a thumb bandage like he did in the second half of Thunder.

He missed 36 games of the NBA’s 72-game schedule last season with calf and Achilles tendon injuries. He dealt with injuries to his left groin and left knee during the playoffs against the Phoenix Suns.

This prompted Davis to do his best over the summer to be available to his teammates.

“I know that this year he is very upset with how last year went and how much time he missed,” Vogel said. “So, anything that is 50/50, regardless of whether this year is included or not, it sounded like:“ I play if I absolutely cannot play ”. He’s just not happy with how much time he missed last year. So if he can play without serious restrictions, he will be there. “
