Eligible Montana residents can request a direct payment of up to $675.. It’s a refund to be made from property taxes and people have until October 1 to request it.
To request a refund of this tax, you can enter the online portal created especially for this purpose.
They can also fill out a paper form.
To qualify for the refund, taxpayers in this state must own a home in Montana or live in a for at least seven months.
Another requirement with a direct payment, which is more obvious, is to pay the 2022 property tax on the house they live in.
People who request their refund – also called a stimulus check – before the deadline will have the money in their hands within 30 days if they request it through the web portal.
If you applied using the paper form, it may take up to 90 days for the money to arrive.
Montana lawmakers have already approved providing a similar direct payment for 2024 based on housing tax payments that residents will make in 2023.
That is, Montana will send these refunds or stimulus checks to eligible residents in the same manner next year.
